Starting a Social Enterprise:  Free Community Workshops

Tuesday 22 August  9:30 AM – 12:30 Whiteria Kapiti Campus                

OR  Wednesday 6 Sept 9:30 AM – 12: 30 Maoriland Hub, Ōtaki                    

This workshop is for those thinking about starting a social enterprise; purpose-driven organisations that trade to deliver social and/ or environmental impact. It will explore the process, opportunities and challenges of starting a social enterprise.

  • Learn about what a social enterprise is and the importance of purpose
  • Explore how business modelling can help you design a social enterprise that works
  • Find out how to test your idea to check that you are on the right track

Kāpiti Social Enterprise Forum (Free event)

Wednesday 6 Sept 1- 3pm Maoriland Hub, Ōtaki         

Inviting community innovators, change makers, social entrepreneurs, not for profit organisations running social enterprises and others interested in creating a thriving social enterprise environment in Kapiti.

Facilitated by Akina Foundation, the forum is an opportunity to share wisdom, learn from local examples, build networks and discuss how to create a more sustainable Kapiti through social enterprise.

About the Facilitator

The workshops and forum will be faciltated by the Ākina Foundation. Akina is a national leader in social enterprise development and training. Their mission is to grow the emerging New Zealand social enterprise sector by:

  • Activating talent, raising awareness and building capability for social enterprise
  • Supporting social enterprises to grow and increase their impact, and
  • Developing new market and investment opportunities for social enterprise.
