As part of the Ōtaki wastewater upgrade, the western section of Riverbank Road near Aotaki Street will close on Wednesday 13 November for the installation of a manhole within the road corridor. Period of proposed closure:
Monday 23 December from Midday to 8:30pm
During the proposed periods of closure, the following provision will be made for ordinary vehicular traffic which would otherwise use the road:
There will be a detour in place around Walton Avenue, on to Te Moana Road.
(7:00am to 6.00pm Monday to Saturday)
We’re about to start installing a 155 metre section of fire water main pipe along Mill Road from Hariata Street to just east of the old State highway 1 roundabout, and along Anzac Road. The Ōtaki Fire Main Pipeline will improve water supply for fire fighting and enhance the network’s resilience.
The pipe will be laid within the road using open excavation methodology, ie, by digging a trench. This means you’ll see diggers, trucks and construction equipment on Anzac Road and Mill Road during the works. Traffic management will be in place and detours might be necessary at times.
When the pipe installation is finished, we’ll need to shut down the water supply in some areas to connect the new pipe into the existing network. We’ll let affected people know before any water shutdown.
See Ōtaki Gorge Road slip for more information.
We're fixing the section of road outside Raumati Beach School. Traffic management will be in place while we get this work done and there may be delays. Please take care passing through this area. this is the third phase of our work to make the road safer and stronger.
We're installing a new drain on Main Road near Mahara Place, Waikanae that will impact use of the footpath. There'll still be pedestrian access to shops in the area. This will mitigate surface flooding issues and improve the footpath. Our contractors are progressing with almost 70 metres of new pipe and two sumps between 40 and 48 Main Road. Once completed, the surface will include a heelsafe grate to improve public safety
Council contractors are laying pipe for the final stage of a new fire loop main system along:
- 600 metres of the eastern end of Riverbank Road, then
- 840 metres north along the Old State Highway 1
- a short section of Waerenga Road, then
- 550 metres north along Dunstan Road.
Traffic management will be in place near the work sites as it moves along its route. The contractors will engage with residents and business operators who might be impacted along the route.

There's been a slip on Mangaone South Road, near 450 Mangaone South Road, that has damaged the road. Here's what you need to know:
- The road is down to one very narrow lane – unless you're a resident please avoid Mangaone South Road.
- Geo-technical experts are heading to assess what's happening under the road and we'll know more about the extent of the damage ahead of Sat 2 November. Fixing it will take some time.
- This affects access to the Mangaone Walkway. If you're planning to do this popular walk in the next few days, please only use Mangaone North Road to get there.

A tree at Manawa Avenue Reserve is being due to a significant split in the trees base. There may be a slight delay for pedestrians navigating through the park as they may have to wait to be escorted through the site. - WORKS POSTPONED - Waimeha Domain – Fri 8–Mon 11 November (incl)
Work to trim back trees in the Waimeha Domain scheduled for Friday 8 and Monday 11 November have been postponed until further notice.
-
Waikanae Park – Mon 4–Fri 15 November
Transpower has contracted arborists to remove trees in Waikanae Park beneath the electricity transmission lines during the first two weeks of November. For safety reasons, the tracks will be closed while the work is in progress. Spotters will be present to guide visitors safely around the work areas. The trees being removed have either grown too tall or been topped over the years to maintain clearance from the power lines. They will be replaced with tree species that are better suited to the site and will not interfere with the power lines as they mature.
