18-Month Fixed Term Position

We’re looking for a Manager – Organisational Development to join our People and Culture Leadership Team and help us build a thriving, inclusive, and high-performing workplace. Reporting to the Group Manager People and Capability, this position is supported by an Organisational Development advisor and the wider People and Capability team. Organisational Development is an integral focus within the strategy; therefore, we’re seeking a talented and passionate individual to drive its success.
Te tūranga: The Opportunity
As the Manager – Organisational Development, you will be responsible for driving organisational development, culture, inclusion, engagement, leadership development, and learning and development (L&D) initiatives that support our Council's goals. You’ll partner closely with senior and people leaders to create an environment where teams are empowered to reach their full potential and contribute to the success of the Council’s strategic objectives.
Kō tō mahi: What you will do
People & Culture Leadership: Partner with the People and Capability Leadership Team to co-create and deliver the People Plan, aligning with strategy while tailoring initiatives to team needs, and provide thought leadership on OD, culture, leadership, and Learning and Development best practices.
Organisational and Learning Development: Co-design and implement ‘fit for us’ OD solutions aligned with the people strategy to enhance culture, leadership, and management capability, including digital tools, engagement strategies, blended learning, and the 'Future Ways of Working' framework.
Leadership & Cultural Transformation: Co-lead the design and delivery of our Mihi Whakatau with the Iwi Partnerships Team, lead the Kamahi Leadership Hui to enhance leadership growth, and develop a high-performing, collaborative People and Capability team.
Talent Management & Succession Planning: Lead the development of innovative Talent and Succession Management framework, co-develop a diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging strategy, and oversee the creation of an annual learning and development calendar aligned with business needs.
Na tōu rourou: What you will bring
- Organisational Development Expertise: Ideally 3 – 5 years at a senior level leading and delivering strategic OD and L&D initiatives within a diverse organisation.
- A Passion for Employee Experience (EX) and Human Centred Design: you will have proven success in applying human centred design principles and EX methodologies to your work, putting kaimahi at the centre of what you do, and who you design for. To you, EX is more than a job title, it is a mindset.
- Change maker: You will lead change across Council and build buy in through engaging heads, hearts and hands.
- Strategic Thought Leader: You don’t focus on today; you design for the future to ensure models and frameworks are sustainable and stand the test of time. You are innovative and look to new and emerging ways to lift leadership capability. You are naturally curious and not afraid to challenge the status quo.
- Culture Shaper: You are passionate about building and shaping organisational culture that creates an environment where kaimahi feel valued, empowered and engaged, to enable them to reach their full potential. You live, eat sleep culture!
- Commitment to Te Titiri; you are committed to upholding the principles of Te Tiriti and authentically embedding tikanga into your ways of working to enhance EX.
