The council’s role is to lead and represent the Kāpiti community, supporting decision making and promoting the economic, environmental and cultural wellbeing of the Coast.
The Research and Policy Team, housed in the Council’s Strategy and Growth Group, plays a key role in managing policy activity across the Council. This includes developing evidence and information to inform policy direction as well as, leading the development and review of Council’s policies and bylaws.
As a key member of the team, you will have the opportunity to lead a range of complex policy projects, as well as supporting the development of policy practice and processes across the team and Council. Working closely with a diverse array of stakeholders from staff, senior leaders, elected members, iwi partners and the local community will allow your relationship and communication skills to shine.
Some of the team’s current projects include reviewing the Freedom Camping Policy and Water Supply Bylaw, developing a local alcohol policy, and a refresh of the Council’s three-year Policy Work Programme.
We are looking for someone with impact, who can bring their experience from local or central government, or an equivalent analytical role, to help us achieve our community’s outcomes in a challenging and rewarding role.
