About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Strategic Advisor to join the Strategy and Growth Group to lead and support strategic work and projects across the Council to help make a difference for Kāpiti and its community.
We are after people with a general base of skills - critical thinking, agility, and wide-ranging experience in evidence-based analysis, including working with data, to develop advice to decision-makers and our community. You will have good influencing, facilitation, and communication and relationship management skills, and be comfortable engaging with stakeholders across Council and the community.
As a key team member of either the Research and Policy team you will be working on projects supporting the development and implementation of our district’s long-term vision, and blueprint on how to get there, including supporting strategies, frameworks and place-based projects that will help us support and deliver on our community’s desired outcomes.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated understanding and experience of strategic concepts and/or a broad range of research and evaluation methodologies and tools, including the ability to effectively obtain, organise and analyse information.
- Ability to translate analysis and findings into compelling outputs and communicate key ideas in plain English – both verbally and written.
- Demonstrated professional ability to effectively influence, gain the trust and confidence of others, and work at with stakeholders at local, regional and national levels.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in the social sciences, or equivalent with at least 5 years' experience in a similar or related role.
