22 April 2025 | Lest we forget.
This Friday 25 April is Anzac Day. There will be services around the district to remember those soldiers from Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia who bravely served together to defend our freedom and way of life.
We invite you to stand alongside our local RSAs, and serving and ex-serving personnel and their whānau to acknowledge their service and sacrifice. Please note Council service centres will be closed all day but our after-hours call centre will be operating for anything urgent. Our other facilities will have reduced operating hours.
Until then it's business as usual, plus some extra fun for the school holidays at our pools and libraries. Head online to check out what's on.
15 April 2025 | Kāpiti Coast home to NZ’s most qualified drinking water team
It's Easter this weekend, so our opening hours will be a little different. Check our website for closures and adjusted hours. Our after-hours call centre will be available for anything urgent.
We've still got lots to keep the kids entertained this week and next, including regular SPLASH sessions at our pools and our digital story trail for Suzy Cato’s The Kauri Family. You can find more school holiday fun on our website.
8 April 2025 | Check out what's on these school holidays
Next week is school holidays, so if you've got kids to entertain we can help! Check out what our pools, libraries, and our district's art gallery have organised.
There are plenty of opportunities to Have Your Say as we embrace the cooler weather, including how Kapiti's water services will be delivered in the future (get your feedback in by this Sunday 13 April), and how we manage freedom camping on the Coast (open until 2 May). Head online to have your say and to sign up for notifications for future consultations.
1 April 2025 | Nominations open today for our Kāpiti Good Sorts Awards
The clocks go back this Sunday, 6 April, marking the end of daylight saving and a switch to winter dog zones, which means more relaxed beach rules for dogs. Meanwhile, toxic algae has been found at Jim Cooke Park, Waikanae River, so please keep your pets away from the water.
If you know someone making a difference for our community, nominations open today for our Kāpiti Good Sorts Awards. You can also nominate a community group for the Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards. Details are on our website.
Tomorrow, we’re opening consultation on our proposed Freedom Camping Bylaw—have your say by Friday, 2 May. You can also still share feedback on future water service options. Head to Have Your Say online to read more and sign up for updates.
25 March 2025 | Gearing up for winter sports
Step aside summer, winter sports are taking the field! Our Sportsgrounds team is busy getting nearly 70 fields across our 16 parks ready for rugby, football, netball, and more.
They'll be coring and de-compacting the turf, spreading sand and fertiliser, and remarking the fields for winter codes. It's a big job and we’re working hard to get everything ready while minimising disruptions to scheduled games and bookings.
18 March 2025 | Local water (safety) done well
We were thrilled to partner with Paekākāriki School to deliver swimming lessons in their pool this summer.
Around 50 students have boosted their water skills and confidence through these voluntary lessons. It's been great to see the tamariki having fun while learning important life skills.
