Hold the line and hunker down a bit longer to beat COVID-19 again advises Kāpiti Coast Mayor

Kāpiti Coast District Council is well prepared to respond to the extension of Alert Level 4 reports Mayor K Gurunathan.

“This afternoon the Prime Minister Ardern announced that Alert Level 4 will be extended for another four days until 11:59pm on Tuesday 24 August,” said Mayor Gurunathan.

“The Council team has refreshed its operational plan to ensure we can continue to deliver essential services at Alert Level 4 while keeping our community and staff safe.

“Many council services continue to be restricted. Playgrounds, libraries, swimming pools, dog parks and public toilets are closed but essential services continue; please see our website for the full list of available services.

“Kerbside rubbish and recycling wheelie bins will be collected but EnviroWaste and Low Cost Bins customers will not have their glass crates collected.  Council waste transfer stations are open only to commercial companies to protect members of our community and staff. If you don’t have kerbside collection, please store your waste safely.

“Echoing official advice, I urge you to stay home unless necessary, stay calm, and follow official advice. Remember, the ground outside your home is lava!

“If you have to go out to access essential services, wear a mask, scan when you enter a premises, stay 2 metres away from others and please, sanitise your hands often.

“Take care, be kind and let’s all do what we need to do to beat COVID-19 again.”
