Applications now open for Council’s Waste Levy Grants
Kāpiti Coast District Council has funding available through its Waste Levy Grants to help our community with projects focusing on waste minimisation.
Sustainability and Resilience Manager, Nienke Itjeshorst, says up to $180,0000 is available for waste reduction initiatives.
“The Waste Levy Grants aim to increase the range, scale and number of waste minimisation activities in our district. Every project counts and we encourage community groups, education providers, businesses, social enterprises and trusts to put their hat in the ring."
Waste levy grants include three funding categories:
- Community Projects to fund practical waste minimisation projects that encourage community participation and education, leading to long-term waste minimisation action.
- Businesses Waste Reduction to support existing Kāpiti businesses to reduce waste from their operations.
- Seed Funding to establish and run a resource recovery hub adjacent to the Otaihanga Resource Recovery Facility.
“It is inspiring to see what our community is doing to reduce waste and we welcome ideas and initiatives that will support the aspirations of the Wellington Region Waste Management and Minimisation Plan 2017–23,” Ms Itjeshorst said.
Applications for Waste Levy Grants closes 11.59pm, 7 August and more information, including eligibility criteria, application forms and previously funded case studies, are available on the Council’s website at kapiticoast.govt.nz/WasteReductionGrants
