Kapiti Mayor assures Minister Carter over water meters
Kāpiti Mayor, Jenny Rowan says she is unperturbed that former mayoral candidate Chris Turver has written to Minister of Local government, David Carter.
Mayor Rowan says she is absolutely confident Council has followed due process in making a decision to introduce water meters to the District.
“We have debated the issue of water supply and quality long and hard. Our processes have been open and transparent allowing for considerable opportunity for debate and consultation.
“We believe the majority if Kapiti ratepayers want progress on this much vexed issue and it is time we moved past the debate to guaranteeing a sustainable water supply for present and future generations.”
Mayor Rowan says Mr Turver appears to be confused about many of the facts in his letter and she will be addressing the issues he has raised directly with the Minister.
