By-election to fill vacancy in Waikanae Ward

Council will hold a by-election on 17 February 2015 to fill a vacancy in the Waikanae Ward created by Councillor Tony Lloyd’s recent passing.

Under section 117 of the Local Electoral Act 2001, the death of an elected member creates an extraordinary vacancy.  If the event occurs more than 12 months out from the next triennial election, then the vacancy must be filled via a by-election.

Nominations for the Waikanae Ward by-election open on Monday 24 November and close on Monday 22 December at 12pm.
