Count down to Arts Trail
There’s only a week to go until the 2015 Kāpiti Arts Trail is underway.
“It’s gearing up to a great event and the fact it’s being held over two weekends for the first time - 31 October/1 November and 7/8 November - will give people more time to get around the different sites in the district and artists will have a greater opportunity to display their work,” says Council’s District Libraries & Arts Manager, Leeann Morgan.
This is the 15th Kāpiti Arts Trail involving more than 130 artists in galleries, hubs and studios from Ōtaki to Paekākāriki. They will be exhibiting in a wide range of mediums - sculpture, paintings, pottery, jewellery, ceramics, glass art, tiles, masks, fibre creations, drawings, prints, collage, mosaics, carvings, weaving, photography, totem poles, wooden flutes and furniture.
“We’re really excited about the diverse range of art that’s going to be on show this year – there will be something to interest everyone and it will be a really fun event,” Ms Morgan says.
Copies of the Kāpiti Arts Guide, which lists all artists and galleries participating in the trail, are available from libraries, council services centres, Paraparaumu i-Site and some galleries and cafés.
