Decision made on Maclean Park Kiosk
At this week’s meeting of the Paraparaumu/Raumati Community Board, the Board accepted the recommendations of the panel evaluating the future occupation and use of the kiosk building at Maclean Park, Paraparaumu Beach.
The panel unanimously recommended that Kāpiti Coast District Council negotiate with the Kiosk Community Collective (KCC) to be the head tenant for the Maclean Park kiosk lease. The collective is made up of six groups: ASK (A Safe Kāpiti), Greypower, Kāpiti Patrol, Age Concern, Disability Information and Equipment Centre, and Neighbourhood Support.
This recommendation followed meetings and consultation with the public to gain an understanding of the community wishes for the future use of the kiosk, and an expression of interest process to identify suitable organisations to occupy the kiosk.
The recommendation for KCC to be the head tenant for the Maclean Park kiosk lease will be considered at the next meeting of the Environment and Community Development Committee (ECD) to be held on 30 July 2015. If accepted, under the Reserves Act 1977, a one month public notification period needs to be given before KCC can take up the lease. If submissions are received against the proposed lease then ECD would need to reconsider their decision no later than September, as occupation of the kiosk is expected to begin around October.
