Mayor says solution close to hand on Raumati postal services
“Following the meeting between NZ Post, myself, Mana Electorate MP Kris Faafoi and community representatives on Wednesday, I have now had word from NZ Post that they are well advanced in talking to a local business about an interim arrangement to continue offering postal and associated services such as a PO Box lobby to Raumati residents.
“NZ Post tells me they are confident there will be no break in postal services when the existing Raumati Village Post Shop closes on 22 May.
“At this stage NZ Post cannot give more detail as they work through the commercial agreement with the business concerned.
“While we await the final details, it is a clear sign they have taken heed of the concerns voiced on behalf of the community. I look forward to hearing more from NZ Post soon.”
Mayor Church paid tribute to the efforts of Kris Faafoi, the Paraparaumu-Raumati Community Board, Councillors and community representatives who have worked together to ensure NZ Post is aware of strong local feelings about how the Raumati community would be impacted by the loss of postal services.
