New Group Manager for Regulatory Services appointed
Kāpiti Coast District Council has announced the appointment of Kevin Currie to the role of Group Manager Regulatory Services.
Kevin brings to the role significant leadership and management experience in local and central government, with an emphasis on managing regulatory systems and processes.
His most recent role of Director Strategic Planning and Engagement at the Ministry for Business Innovation and Employment saw him leading the stakeholder engagement and strategic support for the review of building consenting and the establishment of a national building consenting system.
He previously held several positions at the Ministry for the Environment including Director Environmental Regulation. In this role he was responsible for the delivery of national consenting and regulatory solutions, national environmental standards, and oversaw the establishment of the Environmental Protection Authority function within the Ministry.
Chief Executive Pat Dougherty said regulatory services was a critical area of council business where there were strong expectations on council to do things differently.
“The regulatory services group is on the front line of our open for business culture change programme. Kevin brings to the role an excellent mix of skills and experience to continue this transformation.”
Kevin took up the role in late April.
