WAITANGI DAY COMMEMORATIONS
Don’t miss the Waitangi Day commemorations this Friday 6 February!
The event, co-hosted by Ngāti Toarangatatira and Kāpiti Coast District Council, will be held at Queen Elizabeth Park from 10am with a powhiri followed by lots of entertainment and activities finishing at 4pm.
Free parking is available at the MacKays Crossing entrance to the park.
Then head to the beach for the event by:
· jumping aboard the tram which operates throughout the day (reduced fares: adults $3 and children $1 - one way)
· taking a gentle 3km walk (allow at least 30 minutes)
· riding on a free shuttle (available every half hour) if you are kaumātua.
A great line up of bands will perform on the main stage with new, up and coming musicians featuring on an acoustic stage. Activities for kids such as sack races, bouncy castles, sumo wrestling, face painting and ki-o-rahi will be going on all day.
