Nominations are now in for the 2016 Local Body Elections
Nominations for the 2016 local body elections are now closed.
55 nominations have been received for the Kāpiti Coast District Council. Of this six nominations have been received for the position of Mayor, 14 for the roles of Districtwide Councillors, one for the Ōtaki Ward, four for the Waikanae Ward, five for the Paraparaumu Ward and two for the Paekākāriki-Raumati Ward. Four nominations have been received for the Ōtaki Community Board, nine for the Waikanae Community Board, six for the Paraparaumu-Raumati Community Board and four for the Paekākāriki Community Board.
Electoral Officer Jude Wadsworth says it’s great to see so many people stepping up to represent the communities of the Kāpiti Coast.
Under Section 63 of the Local Elections Act James Cootes has been elected to the role of Ōtaki Ward Councillor unopposed; Kerry Bevan, Christine Papps, Marilyn Stevens and Shelly Warwick have been elected to the Ōtaki Community Board unopposed; and Steve Eckett, Philip Edwards, Holly Jane Ewens and Paul Hughes have been elected to the Paekākāriki Community Board unopposed.

Voting will take place between 16 September and 8 October.
