Spinning yarns in Kāpiti

Kāpiti Coast District Libraries celebrated World Wide Knit in Public Day at the weekend by hosting a group knitting session.
More than 25 knitters and crocheters joined library staff at Paraparaumu Library to mark the day by stitching together.
Libraries Community Programmes Coordinator Juana Kelsen says this year knitters were encouraged to make ‘peggy squares’ for Little Sprouts, who will make them into blankets for babies in need.
“The event promotes the pleasure and enjoyment of knitting in a social setting,” she says.
“We had a great response from the community and a lot of people dropped in squares they had completed at home.
World Wide Knit in Public Day started in 2005 and is the largest knitter-run event in the world.
