Applications for creative funding closing soon
Kāpiti Coast District Council is calling for applications for the Creative Communities Scheme, with the current funding round set to close on Friday 18 August.
The scheme is funded by Creative New Zealand, with applications processed at a local level through the Council’s Grants Allocation Committee.
The current application round is for funding projects that start after 28 September 2017. Projects of any scale or art form will be considered by the Committee, which is looking for projects that most effectively do one or more of the following:
- encourage participation — they create opportunities for our local communities to engage with, and participate in local arts activities
- support diversity — they support the diverse artistic cultural traditions of our local communities
- enable young people — they enable young people (under 18 years) to engage with, and participate in the arts.
Council Libraries and Arts Manager Kat Cuttriss says the beauty of the Creative Communities Scheme, which Council delivers in partnership with Creative New Zealand, is that it generates local arts activity that might not otherwise get off the ground, and creates great opportunities for local participation in the arts.
“It also supports the development of local artists, local arts groups/organisations and the growth of local audiences,” says Ms Cuttriss.
Applicants are encouraged to contact Council’s Libraries & Arts Project Coordinator, Jaenine Parkinson, to discuss their project or the application process:
