Dogs in Togs a success

Kāpiti canines ruled Waikanae Pool over the weekend for the first ever Dogs in Togs summer swim event on the coast.
More than 150 dogs turned out for the final paddle of the season yesterday (Sunday 26 March) before the pool – open from November to March – is drained and cleaned.
Kāpiti Coast District Council’s Parks and Recreation Manager Alison Law says the Dogs in Togs event was a real success and will hopefully become an annual event.
“Waikanae Pool was about to be closed to humans for the season so it was the perfect opportunity to invite Kāpiti pooches for a paddle in the pool,” she says.
“The dogs were under the watchful eye of lifeguards and our animal management team and everything went off without a hitch.”
