Don't miss the Kāpiti Arts Trail
Want a great weekend out exploring all the creativity the Kāpiti Coast has to offer? Then don’t miss the explosion of colour and vibrancy that is the Kāpiti Arts Trail.
Over two weekends, 28/29 October and 4/5 November more than 100 local artists will open their doors to display their art and give locals and visitors a behind the scenes glimpse into their studios.
Jaenine Parkinson, Kāpiti Coast District Council Arts, Museums & Heritage Advisor says this is the seventeenth year for the Trail and its popularity continues to increase.
“We have an amazing group of artists who just love opening their homes and studios to share their artistic talent. We always hear fantastic stories from those who get out and have a fun day out experiencing the Trail.”
“We have run the Trail over two weekends for the past two years, which is proving popular because it gives visitors more time to plan days out looking at all the art on offer, talking to the artists, and experiencing the creativity of the Coast. The trail involves artists and galleries the length of the district from Ōtaki to Paekākāriki and has become one of Kāpiti's most significant cultural events.”
Ms Parkinson says this is the perfect opportunity to make a weekend of it and experience all that Kāpiti has to offer.
“The Kāpiti Arts Trail is a unique experience. We have our regulars who wouldn’t miss it every year, and then people who come from further afield to have a fun-filled weekend. It’s the perfect chance to explore a huge variety of art, stop in at some of the awesome Kāpiti cafes, enjoy some of our boutique shops and make the most of our great walkways and cycleways. Plus entry is free, and with Christmas fast approaching, it’s an ideal way to get ahead of the last minute rush and buy some gifts while you’re out and about.”
