Progress on Raumati Road works
The newly-aligned Goldsborough Avenue, which will form the northern arm of a new roundabout on Raumati Road, recently opened for traffic and now construction of the southern arm of the roundabout, into Hillcrest Road, is underway.
This will be followed by the installation of pedestrian refuges at each arm of the roundabout, then placement of a central island in the middle of the intersection (expected to be operational by late May 2017).
“It’s great to see the new road layout taking shape,” Group Manager Infrastructure Services, Sean Mallon, says. “We realise the works cause a bit of disruption and we’re grateful for everyone’s patience. It’s still important to take care when driving in the area and to follow any changes to posted speeds to keep the public and road workers safe.”
Improvements at the Weka Road triangle should start during the April school holidays to minimise disruption at the beginning of Term 2, with works at the Matai Road T-junction to follow.
The entire upgrade of this part of Raumati Road is scheduled to be completed in mid-July 2017.
