Self-publishing workshops on offer in Kāpiti
Kāpiti Coast District Libraries is giving budding writers the opportunity to learn how to become independent authors by participating in a series of self-publishing workshops in August and September.
The workshops are designed to help aspiring authors navigate the process of self-publishing, with the goal that participants will gain the knowledge to become independently published authors. The workshops show people where to start and how to get to the end of the self-publishing process.
Libraries and Arts Manager Kat Cuttriss says Kāpiti has a thriving, creative community with a number of active authors.
“Independent publishing gives authors the ability to deliver their stories and creative outputs to a wide range of audiences.”
The series starts with a comprehensive three-hour workshop on Saturday 5 August at the Paraparaumu Library followed by seven practical workshops offering in-depth information on various elements of self-publishing.
Topics covered include; book covers and author branding, how to format eBooks, different distributors, social media marketing, websites, newsletters and uploading a formatted manuscript to online retail platforms and stores.
