COUNCIL'S FIRST FUN RUN EVENT WRAPS UP PARKS WEEK
The Kapiti Coast District Council’s first fun run event, Park to Path, on Sunday 18 March wraps up a busy week of events around the District’s numerous parks for 2018’s Parks Week.
Keen runners and walkers can now register online on the Council’s website to join the free event, which offers a scenic walk or run from Otaraua Park in Otaihanga and along the Waikanae River.
There are two routes to choose from – 6km for walkers/runners starting at 9.30am and 10km starting at 8.30am for runners. The 10km takes participants onto one of Kāpiti’s newest recreational paths alongside the Expressway.
Official times will be recorded on the day and there’ll be coffee carts and food trucks at the Otaraua Park start/finish line for participants and supporters.
“All ages are welcome and the flat, scenic route should be appealing to a wide range of entrants,” says Alison Law, Council’s Parks and Recreation Manager.
“We’re grateful to the community who’ve supported us to get this concept off the ground – and to the many sponsors who’ve made it possible to offer the event at no charge for participants.”
