Kāpiti Coast District Council awards new road maintenance contract

The Kāpiti Coast District Council has awarded Council’s new road maintenance contract to Higgins. This follows the recent open tender process, which closed on 18 May 2018.  

Acting Chief Executive Sean Mallon welcomes the new partnership with Higgins.

“We’re looking forward to working closely with Higgins. They’re a local contractor and we’ll be working together over the next three years to deliver good quality road maintenance services to our community. The services they’ll provide are essential for the District and they’ll be working close to people’s homes, businesses and schools, so we’ll be looking at how we can keep improving the way we approach this kind of work.”

The contract includes maintaining and renewing the Kāpiti Coast roading and footpath network, and emergency management. Following the initial three year contract, Council will work with Higgins to explore the possibility of two additional 24-month extensions.
