Kāpiti Coast District Council to operate Te Newhanga Kāpiti Community Centre
The Kāpiti Coast District Council is making some changes to the way the Te Newhanga Kāpiti Community Centre in Paraparaumu operates.
From 1 July, the Kāpiti Community Centre Trust will no longer receive Council funding to run the Centre.
The Council will step in to manage the Centre’s day-to-day operations while it works to secure a new provider to run the Centre through an open procurement process.
Group Manager Community Services Max Pedersen says the Council acknowledges that the Te Newhanga Kāpiti Community Centre is a valued community facility and its doors will remain open.
“We are committed to maintaining a vibrant, safe, welcoming, and affordable space for the community to use.
“We are currently working through a handover process with the Trust to ensure there is a smooth transition,” Mr Pedersen said.
“People will still be able to book rooms and enjoy the Centre’s facilities as they did before.”
