Kāpiti tamariki set to go ‘Beyond the Page’ these school holidays

Beyond the Page, a literary festival for tamariki and their whānau, is back bigger than ever this year as events expand to 25 libraries across the Wellington region.

The Kāpiti Coast District Libraries, Hutt City Libraries, Upper Hutt Library and Wellington City Libraries will work together to run an exciting line-up of events to entertain, excite, and inspire the region’s tamariki and get them exploring the world of story and their cities.

Kāpiti Coast District Libraries and Arts Manager Kat Cuttriss is excited about what’s on offer this year. 

“Over 4,000 people attended events as part of the Beyond the Page festival last year,” she says.

“This year, tamariki can go on an amazing literary and creative journey during the school holidays, at hundreds of events around the Wellington region, including our District.

“Sir Jon Trimmer will be back with Tales from the Ballet, the Kāpiti Coast Electric Tramway will be collaborating with librarians for stories on the move, award-winning kiwi authors and creators (such as Sasha Cotter and Josh Morgan) will share their enthusiasm and knowledge with the next generation of storytellers, the BARK NZ brigade will bring their furry friends along, robots will be unleashed, and so much more - there’s something on offer for everyone.”

“We’ve really enjoyed working in partnership with local public libraries across the Wellington region to develop and deliver an amazing programme of events. We can’t wait to see our community coming out in force to have fun at the festival,” says Ms Cuttriss.
