Poetry competition closes 30 June
The Kāpiti Coast District Libraries invite local poets to enter the sixth annual Libraries’ Poetry Competition.
Libraries and Arts Manager Kat Cuttriss says this is a great opportunity for budding poets to express their creativity and tap into their competitive spirit.
“If you’re a poet, we want to know it! Our annual poetry competition has been growing each year and offers something for all age groups in our community, from school children to adults. This year we’re calling for Haiku themed around ‘Food for thought’, and poems can be written in English or Te Reo.”
“Once we’ve got all the entries in and judged, we’ll host an ‘open mic’ night at Paraparaumu Library from 5.30-6.30pm on Friday 24 August, where we’ll announce our winners. We’ve timed this with National Poetry Day, and thanks to Phantom Billstickers, we’ve got some great prizes up for grabs. We’ll also be producing a poetry book that will include all the entries, and will be available in eBook and print.”
Entries close Saturday 30 June 2018. For more information visit our Libraries website.
