Road works on Mazengarb Road and Guildford Drive to continue tomorrow

Road works to address the failing tar seal on Mazengarb Road and Guildford Drive will be continuing tomorrow.

“The contractors will be on site from tomorrow morning, rolling excess chip into the areas of the roads where the tar has been exposed,” says Sean Mallon, Group Manager Infrastructure Services.

“This next step in the resurfacing of the roads will help to keep the chip seal intact, particularly on areas of the road where work to remedy the failing tar seal did not work.”

“The warmer temperatures at this time of year can cause tar seal to seep through the stone

chip surface and become exposed. As we’ve been experiencing this issue on these roads

already, we’re hopeful that this work will prevent further problems.”   

Traffic management will be in place from tomorrow morning on Mazengarb Road so people are advised to allow a little extra time for their journey if they plan to travel this way.

“We apologise for the short notice but, due to the warmer weather, the work is urgent and we need to get on with it.”
