Heritage Fund now open

Kāpiti Coast District Council’s Heritage Fund is open for applications from landowners wanting help to protect our special places for future generations.

The Council established the fund to provide an incentive for landowners to look after heritage features which can include historic buildings (including structures), ecological sites, geological sites, significant trees or waahi tapu.

The contestable Fund has $37,000 available for the current financial year and applications close on 14 November 2019.

The Council is also calling for applications for rates remission for land protected for natural or cultural conservation purposes. Ratepayers who own land with cultural or natural heritage features which are voluntarily protected, for example by QE II Open Space Covenant, or are listed in the Heritage Register as ecological sites may qualify for rates remission.

Applications also close on 14 November 2019.
