Waitangi Tribunal hearings may limit parking
The Kāpiti Coast District Council is advising people against driving to the Waikanae Town Centre next week, while Waitangi Tribunal hearings will be taking place at Whakarongotai Marae.
Council Group Manager Infrastructure Services, Sean Mallon, says two rows of car parks outside the Marae have been reserved for the 200 people expected to attend the event, which will run from Monday 11 to Friday 15 February.
“As parking may be limited during the hearings we’re encouraging people to consider alternative modes of transport to the town centre, such as public transport, walking, carpooling or biking,” Mr Mallon says.
“The service lane to town centre businesses, Marae Lane and the carparks around the town centre will remain open. We’ll also have traffic management and signage in place.
“We know a lack of parking can be very frustrating, so we’re letting you know in advance so you can plan ahead for your trip to the town centre during this event.”
