Waikanae Pop-Up
The Waikanae Pop-Up is a temporary space where local businesses and startups can book affordable space to work from, connect with others, and showcase their wares. Whether you're a local manufacturer looking for a space to trial new ideas or want to work with other local businesses to showcase a range of products, the Waikanae Pop-Up could be the space you need.
Site works are now nearing completion, with the site opening event scheduled for 29 March 2025.
Join us between 10am-4pm to explore this exciting new space and enjoy entertainment, mural painting, a food truck, and a chance to meet the tenants.
Council purchased the property at 56–62 Main Road, Waikanae, in September 2023 to support future strategic development opportunities in the Waikanae Town Centre.
Working with local networks, the Waikanae Pop-Up will provide high visibility and flexibility for businesses who want to connect with the local community.
More than a just a workspace for business, the pop-up will utilise this empty lot to bring new opportunities to the Waikanae town centre and provide a space for the community to enjoy. Whether you’re looking for a weekend activity, perusing Mahara place, or stepping off the train you’ll be able to pop-in to the pop-up to see the latest it has to offer.
The pop-up space includes three modified containers and a spot for a food truck which are available for bookings. There is also a green space for people to relax, an accessible unisex toilet for pop-up visitors and a small kitchen facility for tenants.
Space Bookings
There will be a cost associated with renting the containers and if you're interested in making a booking or finding out more, email the Economic Development team.
Native Flowers Mural - Community Art Day
The Council’s Public Art Panel invites you to come and paint your own native flower on our Waikanae Pop-Up Mural! Come and leave your mark at one of our community art days.
The mural will feature a meadow made of native flowers that can be “mown” to make way for new flowers and new opportunities to get involved.
