Stormwater quality monitoring

Council monitors stormwater discharges to fresh and coastal water, under our stormwater discharge consent.

Our monitoring focus under the Long-term Plan 2021–41 was expanded to include managing any acute effects on human health, and to inform the development of a longer term stormwater management strategy for the district as required under Greater Wellington's Natural Resources Plan.  

In partnership with iwi, we also focus on ecosystem health, mahinga kai, contact recreation and Māori customary use.
