Leaks on public property
There's a huge unseen network of water pipes running under our roads, parks, and other public places.
Our automated systems alert us quickly to big leaks, but smaller or slow leaks caused by pipe problems, tree roots, or construction can be harder to find.
We need your help when you're out and about to let us know about water leaks on public property.
What to look for
Some signs there might be an underground water leak are:
- hissing or splashing noises
- wet spots and moving water
- localised flooding
- potholes or sinkholes
- sewage smells
- cracking, lifting, or breaking of paved areas.
If you spot a leak
Call us right away if you see signs of a leak on public property.
