Online portal to better connect Council and business community

31 Mar 2023, 10:12 AM

Kāpiti Coast District Council is making it easier for local businesses to get involved in Council mahi.

A new online Supplier Portal designed to improve interactions between Council and suppliers outside of a formal tender process is now open.

The Portal is where suppliers can see examples of work coming up, learn about working with the Council, register their interest in working together and tell us about themselves and what they do.

Corporate Services Group Manager Mark de Haast says Council works on a huge range of projects every year and is keen to learn more about how the local business community could contribute.

“The new supplier portal is a great way to learn about what’s involved in working with local government and for businesses to tell us about themselves and what they offer,” Mr de Haast says.

“We know there are many innovative and exciting businesses in Kāpiti, and we’d like to grow our understanding of who is out there - better market knowledge will help us identify the best approach and options when sourcing suppliers.

“This is an exciting development we hope will make a real difference for both current and potential Council suppliers.

“We’re especially keen to learn more about diversity suppliers - Māori and Pasifika suppliers, local and regional suppliers, social enterprises and small medium enterprises.”

Mr de Haast says when an organisation registers on the Portal their information will be shared with Council activity managers.

“Sound procurement practice will always be followed and there are no guarantees of work, but we want to use our projects to support local suppliers as much as we can. This is a great start.”

Visit the Supplier Portal for more information and to register.
